Detailed Class Descriptions

3D Scanning & WorldBuilding
with JLS Gangwisch, Assistant Professor of 4D Foundations

Place yourself in a digital world!  Attendees of this workshop will use a 3D scanner to capture a self-portrait, place that self-portrait in a digital world of their own making, and use a virtual camera to create a 2D print.  Attendees will take home their original print, digital files of their 3D-scan, and a USB drive with the open-source software used to create their digital environment.

Pencil Portraiture (Drawing)
with Jeremiah Patterson, Professor of Foundation

In this workshop participants will concentrate on the fundamentals of portraits, working with a live model to learn basic pencil drawing strategies and techniques.

Impressionistic Portraits (Painting)
with Brandon Brownlee, Visiting Assistant Professor of Painting and Drawing

In this class participants will be introduced to color theory and the use of color vibration and harmonies to create impressionistic self-portraits.

Wheel Throwing (Ceramics)
with Matt Towers, Professor of Ceramics

Find your center and learn the basics of the pottery wheel: attendees will throw and underglaze their own stoneware vessel.

Design
with Andy Wollner, Associate Professor of Visual Communication Design

Detailed class description forthcoming.

Drawing with Light (Photography)
with Ellen Carey, Associate Professor of Photography

Become the camera and create black and white photograms. Participants will explore a brief history of photography through books and photogram examples, before going into the darkroom to create their own camera-less photographs.

Exhibition Tour of Pathways Faculty Show
with Dr. Carrie Cushman, Edith Dale Monson Gallery Director & Curator

Detailed class description forthcoming.

The Wonder of Watercolor (Illustration)
with Carol Schwartz, Assistant Professor of Illustration

Paint a fall inspired collection of pumpkins, gourds and leaves as you discover some basic techniques to add to your watercolor painting skillset.

Monotype Magic (Printmaking)
with Kasey Ramirez, Assistant Professor of Printmaking
