Koopman Artist Talk and Community Dinner with Liz Nielsen
The 2026 Koopman Artist Talk and Community Dinner are coming up on March 25, 2026. This year we are celebrating Liz Nielsen, who has been working with Hartford Art School students over the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters. He exhibition, Interdimensional Timelines, is on view in the Joseloff Gallery through April 11th.
Please join the Hartford Art School and Hartford Art School Endowment, Inc. to honor Liz’s term as the Georgette and Richard Koopman Distinguished Chair in the Visual Arts. Hear directly from Liz during her artist talk, which will take place in Auerbach Auditorium - Hillyer Hall from 5-6:30PM, with the dinner immediately to follow (approx. 6:40) in the 1877 Club.
The artist talk is free and open to the public.
The community dinner is open to the public but does require a ticket.

Learn More About The Artist
Liz Nielsen lives and works in the Hudson Valley, NY. Her works have been exhibited nationally and internationally. Nielsen's photographs are most often made without a camera and can also be described as light paintings. She works in the analog color darkroom exposing light sensitive paper and processing it through traditional color chemistry. Each photograph is unique and ranging in size from 100" x 100" to 8" x 8”.
She received her MFA from the University of Illinois at Chicago and her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Nielsen is the recipient of numerous awards, including the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Grant, New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) Grant, and the Chicago Academic Achievement Program Grant.
