New Logo Unveiled for Hartford Art School Galleries

New logo designed by HAS student Millie Hamlin (’25).

The Hartford Art School (HAS) Galleries is thrilled to launch its new branding, which celebrates the unity of the Silpe and Joseloff Galleries under a single, harmonious identity. Designed by HAS student Millie Hamlin (’25), the new logo symbolizes the collective artistic spirit of the galleries. With this unified branding, HAS seeks to foster a sense of inclusivity, creativity, and community, while honoring the rich heritage and unique offerings of both galleries.

Carrie Cushman, the Edith Dale Monson Gallery Director and Curator was enthusiastic about the result of Hamlin’s work and praised her “talent and also professionalism throughout the creative process.”  The new logo will be featured on all communications and marketing, and new gear for student gallery monitors, as well as merchandise, will be available for purchase in the galleries.

The new branding is a product of a HAS student’s creativity but set in a real-world context.  In the artistic evolution for designing the logo, there was also a combination of research and strategic thought in the creative process.  The collaboration with Cushman resulted in a fresh and unique feel, with subtle connections to the ochre color of the Hartford Art School Building.

As students, faculty, and visitors encounter the unified identity throughout the galleries and beyond, they will be reminded of the impact of collaboration and the infusion of creativity found at HAS. The new branding also puts the Silpe and Joseloff Galleries at the forefront, signaling an exciting new chapter and new artistic possibilities that lie ahead for the Hartford Art School Galleries.
